I know I shouldn’t really get excited about this kind of thing but today is new shoe day! During the week I went to Sweatshop to get myself properly measured and have my gait analysed for my first proper pair of running trainers because I thought that if I’m doing this then I might as well do it properly! I cannot recommend the guys at Sweatshop enough, they spent quite a bit of time analysing my running style to make sure that the trainers I bought were the best for me, and I have to admit, they must have worked because I ran a PB today on the first day of wearing them!
Today was also my first major milestone towards my aim of 50 in 50, reaching 10 runs in 10 different courses. If I were 20 years younger I would have been able to claim my first t-shirt now but I’ll have to wait another 40 more before I can claim that unfortunately.
The start line is on a path in-between two football pitches, but the meeting point is at the bottom of the field next to the car park, so prior to the start there is a mass walk to the start line to make sure no-one gets lost. The course is also very well signposted with distance markers dotted around at every kilometre point.
From the start, you run towards the edge of the park then turn and follow the path to the right following the perimeter of the park. Then when you come round the other side of the field, you turn back on yourself towards the top side of the field again through a small woodland path, coming out briefly onto the pavement before heading back into the park again. After this you follow the park round the perimeter and back towards the bottom of the field before turning right and heading through a small gap between two trees towards the meeting point. You then head back towards where you first entered the main path from the start to continue on for 2 more laps before finishing in a similar place to the start.
